Role Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced and capable Machinist to join our dedicated workshop team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation and machining of timber components used in the production and restoration of bespoke joinery. This is an excellent opportunity to join a respected company with a strong order book and opportunities for career development.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate woodworking machinery including:
Cross-cut saws, rip saws, surface planers, five-sided planer moulders, spindle moulders, and tenoners* Interpret and follow cutting lists to ensure efficient and accurate timber preparation
Cut timber to rough and final lengths, profiling to required section sizes
Surface and plane timber to finished dimensions in accordance with project specifications
Accurately label and organise machined components in preparation for assembly
Collaborate effectively with the workshop team to meet production deadlines
Maintain a safe, clean, and organised working environment
Assist in the preparation and stock management of machined timber for ongoing production
Candidate Requirements
Experience working with the machinery listed above
Strong practical knowledge of timber machining techniques and processes
A conscientious and reliable approach to work
Methodical and detail-oriented, with a commitment to quality
Capable of working independently and as part of a team
Effective communication skills and a willingness to contribute to a positive team culture
An interest in joinery and a desire to continuously improve professional skills
