Employment team has an exciting new opportunity for a Work and Health Coach. You will support participants in retaining employment, returning to work after sickness or finding new jobs. You will provide a person-centred service and connect participants to local public services that support health, mental health and employment.
As a fast-growing social enterprise, GC delivers employment, health and justice contracts across the North of England, focusing on empowering individuals to make positive progress in their lives.
This role is a fixed-term position for 12 months to provide maternity cover and will end in October 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage a caseload of participants, supporting their employment goals.
Conduct Work and Health Assessment meetings (in person and online).
Assess and support client needs, including benefits advice and mental health disclosures.
Help clients identify skills and goals, creating action plans for employment.
Source job opportunities through tailored searches and employer contacts.
Liaise with local partners, clinical teams and other services to bring in referrals.
Provide education and support to employers to promote job retention.
Achieve monthly sign-up targets as set by manager.
About You:
A warm, approachable and empathetic style, with the ability to establish rapport and build relationships with customers to support their progression into sustained employment.
Awareness of health and mental health conditions and how these may impact employment.
Knowledge of local health services.
Experience of the issues affecting individuals with multiple barriers to employment and sustained employment.
Knowledge of the support agencies that can assist individuals with complex needs (e.g. debt, substance misuse, housing).
Understanding of a broad range of occupations and jobs in the local labour market.
Skills Required:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work in a target-driven environment, with a focus on achieving customer engagement, customer satisfaction and job outcomes.
Experience of working with people with multiple and complex needs, including health conditions and disabilities.
Understanding of working in the community, including on an outreach basis.
Experience of working in guidance, advice or counselling environments.
