As Workforce E DI lead, you will be a senior leader in the Workforce and OD team and the wider Trust. Y ou will have a key role in supporting , i nfluencing and educat ing people across the Trust , role modelling inclusion and challenging non-inclusive practice and behaviour s . W e will help you build up your professional network as you join our leadership assembly and groups across the wider NHS system .
The role is wide ranging and will include things such as developing education for Black History Month , organising and promoting activities for Disability History M onth , community engagement at Chesterfield Pride, designing and delivering training, supporting colleagues through sensitive situations , drafting policies and analysing data. Some current projects we have underw ay include the impl emen t ation of our a nti-racism strategy, inclusive recruitment , ex pandin g colleague network groups and working with team colleagues to s upport clear expectations around our behaviours and values.
Through a nalysing workforce data u sing our W orkforce Race and Disability Equality Standards, P ay Ga p s and workforce demographics (available on our website) you will monitor the development of our inclusive culture and devise interventions to support cultural impro vement.
You will demonstrate inclusive leadership behaviours and be passionate about values, wellbeing, inclusion, engaging people an d improving the experiences of our workforce within the Trust and across the wider system.
Here at Chesterfield Royal Hospital, we provide a full range of district general services, including 24-hour urgent and emergency care, specialist children's services, maternity and community midwifery to the population of North Derbyshir e - around 400,000 local people.?We also offer primary care services through nine GP surgeries in Chesterfield and Derbyshire. Management and Leadership
The Workforce EDI Lead will focus on reviewing the Trust's EDI offer, leading on the following tasks:
Lead the development of the overall EDI approach and action plan in line with the Trust's People Plan, promoting EDI initiatives to raise awareness amongst our people.
Benchmarking on a regional and national basis with other Trusts who are in the top 20% for the National Staff Survey.
Provide leadership of EDI activities, subject matter expert advice and guidance to colleagues.
Provide safe spaces for colleagues and leaders to share and learn
Confidently challenge others' attitudes, assumptions and behaviours and continue to improve our culture.
Attend Trust Committees and meetings to offer insights from an EDI perspective, including policy updates, health and wellbeing and information in relation to EDI reporting.
Work as part of the Joined-Up Care Derbyshire's approach to EDI.
Inclusive Engagement
The programme of work will focus on delivery of our EDI objectives and activities relating to building an inclusive workplace for all staff by carrying out the following tasks:
Support the Head of Organisational Development to champion and coordinate the activities of staff networks to advance the Trust's EDI agenda, including contributing to the governance framework.
Support and develop the establishment of new staff groups and networks.
Support and develop EDI networks across the Integrated Care System, including increasing engagement with local network groups outside of the Trust.
Lead on the development of EDI Champions/Inclusion ambassadors for our Trust
Support leaders to embed the Trust's values, helping them to identify issues and deliver appropriate responses and fulfil their responsibilities to ensure that legislation, guidance and best practice is embedded in their culture, decision making and practices.
Work with our Communications Team and Staff Network Groups to deliver a range of EDI related awareness days and celebrations such as PRIDE, Black History Month, and Disability History Month
Lead our programme of work to explore the experience of working at the Trust for those with protected characteristics.
Develop and maintain the EDI intranet page to ensure it is accessible and user-friendly.
Governance and Reporting
Contribute to the Trust's EDI assurance frameworks and development of action plans to support the NHS EDI Improvement Plan.
Lead and manage the annual production of the Public Sector Equality Duty reporting including the Workforce Race Equality Standard (WRES), Workforce Disability Equality Standard (WDES) and Pay Gap reports in a timely manner and in line with legal timeframes and publishing requirements.
Support the Trust to identify priorities relating to EDI and work with leaders across the Trust to embed into local governance structures
Design, develop and evaluate EDI interventions
Monitor and analyse EDI workforce data.
Support the production of the EDI reports for the Trust Board and People Committee this includes the EDI Annual Report.
Education & Development
Analysis of our National Staff Survey results and subsequent engagement in relation to EDI outcomes. This includes providing support to the HR Partners with any EDI actions/interventions.
Review and develop workforce EDI training and development, in line with the Trust's Strategy and People Plan, to increase awareness and understanding, build skills and support cultural development across the Trust. This includes essential training and induction processes.
Support EDI Leadership Assembly events.
Inclusive Recruitment & Retention
Support the Head of Human Resources and Disability Network with activities to meet our commitment to be Disability Confident.
Support the Head of HR to embed inclusive recruitment policies and practices and ensure our EDI offer is well publicised at recruitment stage.
General
Be part of the Senior Workforce and OD leadership team and provide advice, guidance and support on EDI matters when required.
Develop effective working relationships with communications team colleagues to maximise organisational reach
Attend external EDI training, events and forums to keep up to date.
Translate development sessions into practical relevant initiatives for application within the Trust.
Share and utilise learning back at the Trust.
Participate and support the HR team in any general HR matters which have EDI implications, including employee relations cases.
