Job overview The Bowel Cancer Screening Eastern Hub currently invites 56-74 year olds registered with a GP to be screened, via a faecal occult blood test, for bowel cancer. The hub provides analytical and Freephone helpline services, and liaises with 14 screening centres in their provision of colonoscopy investigation for all participants with positive screening results. Our screening service continues to grow to include all 50-60 year olds by 2025. Due to further expansion of the highly successful National Bowel Cancer Screening Programme, we are excited to offer the role of Workforce Operations Officer based at QMC. We are looking for a confident, well-motivated, reliable and pro-active individual to support and manage the administrative team, bringing new ideas to improve the service and the delivery of key performance targets. Main duties of the job The main focus of the role is to provide comprehensive staff management of clerical and admin staff (approximately 40 staff) for the Eastern Bowel Cancer Screening Hub under the guidance of the Assistant Operational Manager and Programme Manager. This includes following human resource procedures for administrative and clerical staff, assisting with procurement of supplies and resources, management of programme documents and performance management records.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities Please review the attached and Person Specification. Working alongside the Operational Management team (OMT), the post holder will play a key role in the management of the admin and clerical staff in line with HR policies and processes, therefore experience in this area is required. A positive, supportive and compassionate attitude towards leadership is essential. We encourage informal visits to the department regarding the role.

  • Educated to A-Level standard or equivalent
  • Recognised qualification in management or proven experience in this area

Desirable criteria
  • NVQ level 3 Business Administration

Experience
Essential criteria
  • Experience of supervising an office team
  • Experience of following HR procedures with regard to workforce including disciplinary, sickness and performance monitoring
  • Experience in the induction and training of staff
  • Experience of working in a busy administration environment
  • Experience in a customer facing role

Desirable criteria
  • Previous working experience in the NHS
  • Previous working experience in Cancer Screening Services
