Overview



T & M Fire Protection is looking for a reliable, experienced, and hands-on

Working Foreman

to lead fire door installation and remedial teams on a self-employed basis. This role requires both technical ability and on-site leadership to ensure that all works meet industry standards and are delivered efficiently, safely, and to specification.

Ideal for someone with a solid fire door background who can lead from the front, delegate tasks, and maintain high levels of quality and compliance.

Key Responsibilities



Lead and work alongside a small team of joiners on fire door installation and remedial projects. Carry out installations and repairs in accordance with

BS 8214

,

BM TRADA/Q-Mark

, or equivalent standards. Ensure correct installation of doorsets, ironmongery, intumescent materials, and seals. Conduct quality assurance checks and ensure accurate completion of site documentation. Provide daily briefings, delegate tasks, and support less experienced operatives where needed. Liaise with project management and clients to coordinate tasks and communicate progress/issues. Ensure the site remains safe, clean, and compliant with health & safety protocols. Complete and submit daily records (e.g., task briefing sheets, timesheets, and material use).

Requirements



Minimum 5 years' experience in

fire door installation and remedials

. NVQ Level 3 in Carpentry & Joinery (or equivalent qualification).

Gold CSCS Card

- essential. Ability to lead small teams while remaining hands-on with the work. Excellent knowledge of passive fire protection principles. Confident in reading and interpreting technical drawings and door schedules. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and time management. Own tools, transport, and Public Liability Insurance. FDIS Diploma (or similar qualification) is an advantage, but not essential.
