Are you looking for a hands-on, meaningful role that keeps one of Pembrokeshire's most iconic structures running smoothly? We're seeking a dedicated
Cleddau Bridge Operative
to join our Environment & Transport team within the Place and Assistant Chief Executive Directorate.
As a Bridge Operative, you'll be at the heart of our maintenance operations - working on the Cleddau and Westfield Pill Bridges, and Pembroke Barrage. This is a physically active role where no two days are the same. From steel preparation and painting to greasing and small mechanical tasks, you'll ensure our bridges remain safe and operational.
You'll work in all weather conditions, often at height or in confined spaces, so a strong awareness of health and safety is essential. Operating bridge gantries, supporting contractors on-site, managing traffic setups, and carrying out repairs will be part of your daily routine. Communication is key - whether liaising with colleagues, the public, or external suppliers, you'll represent our service with professionalism and care.
We're looking for someone with proven experience in construction or mechanical work, who is confident using tools and equipment relevant to the role. A full driving licence is required, and the ability to work independently and reliably is a must. Welsh language skills are desirable.
If you're ready for a physically engaging, highly valued public service role where your work truly matters, we want to hear from you. Step up, take pride in your work, and help maintain a vital link in Pembrokeshire's infrastructure.
Please refer to the job description above for more details on this vacancy and the person specification.
