Reporting into our Works Permit Controller, the Works Permit Officer will assist with the controls and authorisation of sitewide activities, liaising with third party contractors and stakeholders to help enable safe execution of works on site. They'll review all relevant risk assessments and method statements and associated documentation to support the permitting process and auditing of works.

We are looking for an applicant with previous experience with e-Permit to work processes and demonstrable experience in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering environment.

Interviews will commence from the 2nd of June 2025.



PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES



Working alongside the Works Permit Controller to manage a robust framework for all new programmes of work across the airport. Ensuring a consistent approach and excellence in Health and Safety to maintain a safe and secure environment for all internal and external stakeholders. Manage the IT based e-Permit and contractor controls system daily, including support stakeholders, registering, and setting up contractors and providing training to those using the Bristol Airport portals. Develop strong and mutually beneficial working relationships with key stakeholders to increase Health and Safety awareness and understanding to minimise disruption to business operations and projects. Managing contractor work requests, assessing, approving, and rejecting Risk Assessments and Method Statements and permit to work applications, produced by contractors in support of proposed works in line with safety processes and legislative governance. Ensure contractor control procedures are adhered to, including permits to work, contractors' inductions and visitor site presence management. Carry out on-site audits of contractor work activities. Documenting compliance with regulatory requirements and Bristol Airport policies and procedures. Identifying any parties, including permit issuers and contractors who are not conforming to the defined procedures and raise via the formal process. Proactively liaise with all key stakeholders, both internal and external to ensure the airport's works programme runs effectively whilst maintaining a safety focusing including weekly review meetings and contractor forums. Support, review, and assist with third party contractor job / permit packs in preparation for CDM / Project site handovers. Verifying all third parties undertaking construction/ maintenance works within the airport campus have the correct permits to work. Ensuring all permits are issued, monitored and closed in accordance with site procedures.

PERSON SPECIFICATION



Essential



Previous experience with e-Permit to work processes and procedures across engineering, maintenance, and construction environments, including the development of policies and procedures or similar experience. Demonstrable experience in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering environments. IOSH Managing Safety Quality qualification or equivalent. Ability to build strong, professional relationships with both internal and external customers, and colleagues and be able to communicate effectively and professionally at all levels. Strong literacy and numeracy skills, and ICT savvy, fully competent in all MS Office applications

Desirable



Experience working within an airport environment or busy 24/7 commercial operation. Site Manager Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) training or equivalent. Knowledge of developments within the Aviation equipment industry. Working to or willing to work towards NEBOSH qualifications.
