Congleton Garden Machinery, founded in 1989, is a well-established and expanding retail business headquartered in Congleton, Cheshire. Internationally recognised for selling and hiring out horticultural, farming, forestry, equestrian, construction and all-terrain vehicle equipment and parts.

The Role:



We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Engineer to join our workshop team, responsible for the servicing, repair, refurbishment, and build of machinery to the highest standards.

This role is suited to an engineer who takes pride in their work, can operate with a high level of autonomy, and is confident working across complex machinery in a fast-paced, professional environment.

Key Responsibilities:



Carry out timely servicing, repair, refurbishment, and fault diagnosis of machinery, tools, and equipment, both in the workshop and on field call-outs Take lead responsibility for diagnosing faults, identifying root causes, and delivering effective, long-term repairs Build and prepare machinery including ATVs and quads, completing all pre-delivery inspections (PDI) and associated paperwork accurately and on time Accurately complete job cards, estimates, timesheets, and parts requirements, ensuring all work is clearly documented Estimate labour and communicate any changes to required hours or parts promptly to the Parts Department Contribute to improving Workshop Operating Efficiency by maximising chargeable hours and identifying efficiency improvements Support customer handovers by explaining safe use, basic operation, and routine maintenance where required Assist with company fleet maintenance when necessary Maintain an organised, safe, and efficient workshop and warehouse environment Support hire equipment standards in line with HAE and CGM safety requirements Uphold all health, safety, environmental, and security procedures at all times Actively contribute to continuous improvement, cost saving, and best-practice engineering processes Share technical knowledge and training with colleagues to support team development

A Successful Candidate Will Have:



Proven experience as a skilled engineer within machinery, automotive, agricultural, plant, or similar sectors The ability to work independently with a high level of technical competence and attention to detail Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across mechanical and electrical systems Confidence estimating work, managing time effectively, and prioritising tasks A professional approach to documentation, compliance, and customer-facing work A strong understanding of health and safety standards and safe working practices A proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement Pride in workmanship, reliability, and a strong work ethic A willingness to support and mentor others as the team grows
