WHAT YOU\'LL DO

This is where it all begins. We develop the new concepts that go on to become new Jaguars and Land Rovers. So, the emphasis is on building strong strategic, technical and financial foundations right from the start.

The Prototype Development workshops provide exceptional service to the whole of Engineering and beyond, through the preparation and maintenance of the test fleets, ensuring JLR always has the highest quality prototype vehicles ready for testing.

We work with a variety of core customers to plan and manage workload through the workshops, and now have an opportunity for someone to join the team as a customer liaison in the Agile world.

You\'ll play an integral part interfacing with customers, creating and managing plans in JIRA and other tools that enable the workshops to efficiently balance workload between demand and available resource. Provide technical guidance to our customer groups, enabling them to get their vehicles prepped and ready for test in the most efficient way possible, as well as prioritising workload from customer groups to enable workshops to always balance resources between customer groups.

This role is to support operations which primarily have a focus on Durability & Robustness, Powertrain Robustness and Electrical Integration. This role will be on a standard day shift pattern.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Ensure customer requirements are understood and documented
  • Manage a JIRA Kanban board that interfaces with customer plans
  • Lead daily forums with workshop supervision to plan workload
  • Understand customer test plans and cascade how this will impact workshops
  • Work with customer groups to ensure vehicles and parts are in the right place at the right time
  • Provide technical guidance to customer groups on how jobs will need to be processed through workshops
  • Provide management and workshop supervision with visibility of upcoming packages of work
  • Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested from time to time
WHAT YOU\'LL NEED

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential
  • An excellent understanding of all main vehicle systems, with a focus on Robustness elements.
  • PC literate with a knowledge of Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders to achieve an agreed outcome.
  • Knowledge of D&R, ORC and PT Robustness processes, including physical test procedures and standards.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise workload tasks.
  • Confident communicator, comfortable working with technicians through to chief engineers.
  • Background in workshop operations.
  • Desirable:
Desirable
  • A knowledge of JIRA would be advantageous, but training will be provided.
  • Previous experience of workload planning tools, or experience of scheduling jobs through a facility.
Personal Profile
  • A good team player who is able to work to predefined procedures, but also can problem solve when required.
  • An individual who has a desire to learn new skills and improve their knowledge
  • Hold a full UK driving licence
  • Flexible approach to working including temporary working on alternative sites and overseas locations.
  • Good communication skills, tenacity, attention to detail with a quality focus and safe working practices.
  • Capability of managing projects.
