Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Workshop Engineer (Forklift Engineer) to join our dynamic team at Locators Ltd. In this role, you will be responsible for providing exceptional service and support to our customers. You will troubleshoot, service and repair manual handling equipment. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service.

Locators employs over 70 people and was established in 1985 providing a high-quality materials handling service to a wide range of industries. Our Head Office and workshops are located in Wimborne, Dorset with a regional workshop in Thatcham, Berkshire.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



Undertake the repair and servicing of materials handling equipment as instructed, in line with the "repair time schedule," ensuring the highest standards of workmanship at all times. Report any additional faults or issues requiring attention to the Workshop Manager promptly. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of forklift service, repair, and maintenance requirements. Maintain regular communication and a positive working relationship with the Workshop Manager. Monitor the job board and job cards to ensure tasks are correctly prioritised. Track time and costs allocated to jobs to ensure work remains economical and cost-effective. Keep personal and company tools clean, safe, and in good working condition. Ensure the workshop area is kept clean, safe, and well-organised at all times. Carry out all duties safely and professionally, in accordance with Health and Safety regulations.

Strong engineering background with hands-on mechanical and technical expertise Proven experience with forklift trucks and materials handling equipment Good understanding of Health & Safety regulations and safe working practices

Salary and Benefits:



Competitive salary plus performance 23 days holiday + bank holidays, rising by one day a year to a maximum of 30 days after 8 years' service Pension scheme - 5% by employee and 4% by employer, rising if you choose, to 7.5% each after 5 years' service Company paid Health Plan for employees and their children up to the age of 18 years.
