Job Description

We are seeking a Workshop Fitter Foreman to oversee the day-to-day workshop operations, leading a team of fitters to ensure timely, safe, and high-quality maintenance and repairs. The role includes workload planning, troubleshooting, quality control, and ensuring compliance with safety standards and company procedures.

1. Supervision & Team Leadership

Lead, supervise, and motivate workshop fitters. Allocate daily tasks and set job priorities based on operational needs. Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and on-the-job training. Monitor performance and ensure adherence to work standards.

2. Mechanical Maintenance & Repairs

Oversee mechanical repairs, fitting, and servicing of equipment/machinery. Conduct complex troubleshooting and assist with critical repairs. Ensure proper use and maintenance of workshop tools, machinery, and equipment.

3. Planning & Coordination

Schedule and coordinate jobs to meet deadlines. Maintain job records, work orders, and workshop documentation.

4. Quality Assurance

Inspect completed work for accuracy and quality. Ensure correct installation practices and adherence to technical drawings. Implement continuous improvement practices within the workshop.

5. Health, Safety & Compliance

Enforce all safety rules, PPE requirements, and safe work procedures. Conduct toolbox talks, risk assessments, and incident reporting. Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free workshop environment.

Strong mechanical fitting knowledge and hands-on technical ability. Leadership, communication, and team management skills. Problem-solving and diagnostic skills. Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.

Qualifications & Experience

Qualified Fitter / Mechanical Fitter trade certificate (or equivalent). 5+ years of mechanical fitting experience, with at least 1-3 years in a supervisory role. Experience in workshops for machinery, plant equipment, HGV's and vans. Knowledge of safety regulations and workshop best practices.
