As Workshop Foreman, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing day-to-day workshop operations, ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standards of craftsmanship, safety, and efficiency. You will supervise a talented team of technicians and craft specialists, coordinate workflows, and maintain a safe and organised working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage workshop teams, assigning tasks and monitoring progress
Coordinate production schedules to meet project deadlines and quality expectations
Liaise with project managers and conservators to interpret technical drawings and job specifications
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company procedures
Oversee equipment maintenance and material stock levels
Contribute hands-on to complex or delicate restoration work as required
Train and mentor junior team members, fostering a collaborative and skilled workforce
Ideal Candidate:
Proven experience in a supervisory or foreman role, preferably within metalwork, conservation or heritage, fabrication
Strong leadership and communication skills
Excellent understanding of workshop safety and tool/equipment management
High level of attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
Knowledge of conservation practices or traditional materials is a huge advantage but not essential
