Workshop Manager - Perm

The Company

We are sourcing a candidate to work for a very exciting client. With over 20 years' expertise in welding, plasma cutting, and sheet metal, our client provides tailored fabrication solutions for projects of every scale, backed by a commitment to quality and sustainability.

Location: Thornton, Lancashire, FY5

Pay: 50,000 - 75,000

Shifts: Week days

Key Responsibilities

Manage the day-to-day operations of the workshop, ensuring projects are completed to specification and deadline. Lead and supervise welders, fabricators, fitters, and apprentices. Plan, allocate, and monitor workloads, coordinating resources effectively. Uphold stringent quality standards to meet company and client expectations. Ensure full compliance with health and safety policies and legislation. Manage inventory, tools, and equipment, including maintenance and repairs. Support project management with technical advice, costings, and progress updates. Drive continuous improvement, training, and staff development. Maintain strong communication with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
Skills and Experience

Proven supervisory/management experience within fabrication, engineering, or manufacturing. Strong technical knowledge of fabrication, welding, and mechanical assembly. Skilled in interpreting technical drawings and specifications. Effective leader with excellent organisational and problem-solving ability. Solid understanding of health and safety regulations and best practice. Confident IT user (Microsoft Office, job management systems).
Qualifications

Relevant trade qualifications in fabrication, mechanical engineering, or related field. Health & Safety certifications (e.g., IOSH, NEBOSH) desirable. Forklift, crane, or lifting certifications advantageous.
