Fleet & Transport Services is part of the Council's Regeneration and Environment Directorate, supplying vehicles, maintenance, and transport services to a wide range of Council departments, which in turn provide essential services to the Rotherham community.

Our In-House Transport Maintenance team supports the maintenance and repair of a diverse fleet of motor vehicles including but not limited to motor cars, minibuses, light goods vehicles, Heavy Goods Vehicles, RCV's and engineering plant.

We operate a modern fleet of vehicles, that we preventively maintain to a very high standard with an emphasis on 'Quality' over 'Quantity'. The suitable applicant will be Workshop based but may on occasion be required to attend vehicles at the roadside or at our other depots throughout the Rotherham Borough.

The post holder will maintain, inspect, repair and test Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Councils vehicles (tractors, trailers, etc.) and/or heavy plant/handheld equipment to prescribed standards in accordance with manufacturers and Council procedures.

The post holder will carry out fault diagnosis, maintenance and repair of complex hydraulic and electrical systems on-board tractor and trailer units, ride on mowers, quads etc, including welding, fabrication repairs as required.

The post holder will attend sites to undertake inspections, maintenance and fix broken down or accident damaged vehicles, tractors & trailers and effect permanent or running repairs as required, including preparing and decommissioning vehicles.

The post holder will provide additional capacity for the fleet workshop as and when required, supporting where necessary to fulfil the Operator's Licence requirements, such as supporting HGV fitters in taking vehicles to the MOT station.

The Post holder will be required to work on complex hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical systems, in some cases using the latest vehicle diagnostic technology.

The post holder will be required to conduct pre-delivery inspections for new fleet vehicles and decommissioning services at the end of a vehicle's life cycle.
