Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Workshop Supervisor to join our Jelson Workshop.

Reporting to the Workshop Manager, this role will manage the day-to-day operations of the workshop, specifically for windows, doors and cavity closers.

As Workshop Supervisor, you will coordinate the daily activities of workshop operatives, ensuring they are working on the correct jobs with the necessary materials and equipment. You'll be responsible for maintaining quality standards, meeting production timelines, and supporting the team with technical queries, training, and compliance.

Key tasks will include:



Prepare window, glass, replacement glass, French doors and front door orders and order the required materials

Complete window & door price updates on the Company software

Update and file orders/delivery notes

Manage the machine maintenance plan to ensure minimising downtime

Ensure machinery and equipment are well maintained, safe, and fit for purpose

Carry out safe machine maintenance when required and if trained appropriately

Support with the BMTRADA Audit and compliance updates

Provide timely month end costings to Workshop Manager

Ensure daily workshop progress sheets are completed and up to date

Organising labour requirements to support the plan

Lead, motivate, and develop workshop operatives, ensuring adequate training is provided

Enforce and promote adherence to Health & Safety policies in collaboration with the H&S team

Liaise with site managers to prepare stock for site collection

Perform regular quality checks to maintain high standards across all products

Manage operative timesheets, authorisations, holiday requests, and absence cover planning

Handle workshop queries or concerns, escalating when required to ensure timely resolution

GDPR compliant at all times

Provide cover for the Workshop Manager and other supervisors during absence or leave, including material ordering

Relevant qualifications or experience required



Proven experience in UPVC, Windows, doors and joinery, ideally in a manufacturing or workshop setting

Previous experience supervising or leading a team is desirable

Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

Confident communicator with the ability to delegate, train, and motivate others

Good IT skills and experience using workshop or manufacturing systems
