Position:

Workshop Supervisor

We are looking for an experienced Workshop Supervisor to lead operations at our South Cerney facility, ensuring the smooth, safe, and efficient running of our workshop while maintaining IDC's high standards of quality and reliability. Full time, 08:00-16:30.

We specialise in the design, manufacture, and installation of bespoke conveyor systems, supporting clients across various sectors.

Role Responsibilities:

As Workshop Supervisor, you will be responsible for the coordination, planning, and day-to-day management of workshop activities. You will lead by example, ensuring all fabrication, assembly, and preparation work meets specification and project deadlines.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Workshop Operations:

Oversee daily workshop activities, ensuring efficient workflow and safe working practices. Supervise a small team of engineers and apprentices, providing clear instruction, support, and motivation. Ensure all conveyor systems and equipment are built, fabricated, and assembled to required standards and timeframes. Manage stock control, tools, materials, and workshop logistics. Operate workshop machinery and equipment, including welding and fabrication tools.
Project Coordination:

Liaise with project managers and site supervisors to prepare equipment and assemblies for installation. Review upcoming projects, ensuring schedules and resources align with delivery timelines. On occasion support project installations on site with final assembly.
Quality & Maintenance:

Maintain high quality control standards across all workshop operations. Conduct regular checks on tools, machinery, and workshop facilities, ensuring they are safe and well maintained. Assist with loading, unloading, and transport of equipment for site projects.

Requirements:

Proven experience in a workshop supervisory or leadership role within the mechanical, fabrication, or conveyor industry. Strong understanding of mechanical assembly, fabrication, and welding processes. Ideally experience with conveyors or mechanical handling equipment. Excellent organisational and multitasking skills. Confident communicator, able to lead teams and coordinate with multiple departments. Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Office Suite (AutoCAD "read only" experience beneficial). Forklift licence preferred but not essential, can be trained. Positive, proactive attitude and ability to adapt to varied tasks.

On occasion, off-site work may be required -- transport and associated costs will be arranged or reimbursed.
