LHY Powertrain Ltd, based in Abingdon, is a wholly owned subsidiary of LHY Powertrain GmbH & Co. KG, headquartered in Aschaffenburg, Germany. The company is responsible for the sales, service, and support of LHY Powertrain products across the UK and Republic of Ireland.
Due to continued business activity, LHY Powertrain Ltd is seeking a full-time Workshop Technician/engineer to join the team on a permanent basis.
Role Overview
The Workshop Technician will be responsible for the strip-down, inspection, repair, modification, and testing of hydraulic pumps, motors, and valves within the workshop. The role requires a high level of technical accuracy, attention to detail, and adherence to engineering best practices.
The position reports directly to the Workshop & After sales Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out strip-down, fault analysis, repair, and modification of hydraulic pumps, motors, and valves
Perform new unit modifications in line with customer or engineering requirements
Produce written technical reports detailing the condition of un-repaired units
Identify and prepare parts lists and quantities required to complete repairs
Support and participate in functional testing of repaired and modified units
Work in accordance with company procedures, quality standards, and general engineering best practices
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workshop environment
Contribute positively to continuous improvement initiatives within the workshop
Candidate Requirements
Proven experience in a workshop or technician role, ideally involving the repair, assembly, or maintenance of precision-engineered mechanical or hydraulic components
Strong attention to detail and a consistent, methodical approach to work
Ability to work effectively within a small team environment
Good communication skills and the confidence to use initiative and suggest improvements to existing processes
An academic qualification in a relevant engineering or technical discipline would be advantageous
Must have the right to work in the UK
Training & Development
Full training will be provided to the successful candidate
Training will include in-house instruction and formal training at Linde Hydraulics headquarters in Germany, following completion of the probationary period
Salary & Benefits
Salary up to 28,000 per annum, dependent on experience within an engineering sector.
