Would you like to help us make a positive impact on our children and their families?
Fairisle Infant and Nursery School is a three-form entry school with a separate Nursery building on site. We are part of the Bridge Education Trust Southampton. We are an inclusive setting with an emphasis on a child-centered and family friendly approach to care and learning. We have supportive parents and Governors and our children are well behaved, enthusiastic and proud of their school. Please visit our website for a virtual tour made by the children.
Our Wrap Around Care provision accepts children attending both Fairisle Infant and Nursery School and Fairisle Junior School in our Breakfast Club and After School Childcare. We provide a safe and welcoming environment, allowing children to play, socialise and enjoy healthy food.
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, dedicated and caring person to support our After School Childcare which runs from 3.15pm - 5.45pm Monday to Friday term time only. We have various shifts available, both regular shifts on a fixed-term contract and zero-hours bank staff contracts to cover staff absence.
Successful candidates will:
Enjoy working with children and have a sense of humour.
Be a supportive and helpful team member.
Help monitor the welfare of the children, ensuring their emotional and physical wellbeing.
Prepare healthy food, support children whilst eating and clear up afterwards.
Set up activities and engage with children in play, relaxation and craft activities.
Help support children with Special Needs
Communicate effectively and maintain good relationships with parents.
Be happy to administer minor first aid
Be willing to learn, preferably with relevant experience but will not need formal qualification.
In return, we can offer you:
A friendly and supportive team
The opportunity to work with lovely and respectful children
A happy and safe school environment
Staff training, in particular Safeguarding and Food Hygiene
An hourly rate of 12.85 to 13.05
A fixed term contract until 31 August 2026 with the possibility to extend and/or zero hours / bank staff who we can call on to cover shifts when necessary.
If you are considering a future role working with children, this could support you in gaining the experience you will need. We are a school that supports staff professional development.
For the right candidate, we may also have future opportunities to increase hours by supporting our Breakfast Club or over our lunchtime periods. We will consider candidates who cannot work every day or for the full 3.15pm - 5.45pm session, providing the needs of the setting are met. Please state your preferences in your application.
We look forward to welcoming excellent candidates to the Fairisle Family.
