We are looking for an Apprentice to work in our Construction Yard. This is a learning role for someone who would like a career in Civil Engineering. You will assist the Yard Team to ensure that all aspects of the Yard are controlled and maintained, ensuring safety is always a priority. You will be expected to accept deliveries and control access and transport within the yard, making sure that everybody complies with the company's procedures and Health and Safety requirements. You'll be expected to ensure the yard is kept tidy and organised so materials can be stored and then reused when required. You'll also help with the recording of supplies in the yard, such as aggregates, sand stocks, building materials and plant.
As our Yard Apprentice, you will learn basic maintenance of excavators, telehandlers, dumpers, rollers etc and vehicles.
We will provide you with all the training required: Manual handling, Banksman, Abrasive wheels, Plant Driving, Telehandler Operator while you also study for L3 Construction Support Technician apprenticeship. When you have completed your Apprenticeship you will be a competent Civil Engineer Operative who can progress within the company.
What Key Skills & Experience Are We Looking For?
Essential
The successful candidate will need a practical mindset, enjoy working outdoors and be comfortable taking a hands-on approach to work tasks.
You should be prepared to challenge unsafe working practices and be confident in reporting these to management.
The role involves working alone and as part of a team in all weathers, so you should be a resilient self-starter with good time management and the ability to efficiently manage your own workload.
You should also be a good problem-solver, decision maker, communicator and one who displays exemplary attitudes and behaviours.
Desirable
A desire to work as a Civil Engineer Operative.
Previous work experience in a Construction trade would be an advantage.
Be able to get to Kearsley for work.
