Yard Drilling Assistant



Key role objective



The principal function of this position to undertake the preparation and maintenance of drilling plant, equipment and consumables at our Bilsthorpe yard facility and assist the Drilling Operations Manager/Yard Operations Manager in general plant and equipment preparation for WJ projects.

Yard Operations Manager (day to day liaison regarding additional yard functions as required)

Key areas of responsibility



Carry out Yard Drilling Assistant duties including:

Preparation of drilling equipment for use on site.

Preparing land drilling equipment for use on site e.g., loading carefully and neatly into van or lorry.

Unload and stack or store equipment carefully and appropriately in the yard.

Ensure maintenance procedures are carried out to all drilling plant & equipment according to manufacturer's recommendations.

Keep daily records of yard operations such as delivery/return notes, maintenance checks, repairs and stock levels etc.

Assisting the Drilling Operations Manager in the delivery of Training & Development of new and existing drilling teams

Carry out deliveries where necessary of drilling equipment to sites.

Assisting the Drilling Operations Manager in categorising and determining minimum standards for all ancillary equipment (e.g., drill rods, casings, pipes, tanks etc.)

Assisting the Drilling Operations Manager in purchasing consumables and servicing equipment.

Ensure the drilling plant and equipment is consistently presented to a high level to promote a professional image to the customer and WJ business alike.

To be responsible for your own health and safety and that of colleagues, in accordance with current construction guidance and relevant national legislation.

The above is not exhaustive and you will be expected to undertake any other duties which may reasonably fall within your level of responsibility and competence. Assist in the development of the Integrated Management System

Administer IMS procedures and ensure objectives and targets are met.

Liaise with the company auditors and ensure execution of corrective actions.

Collaborate across UK business units-including HR, SHE, design/technical, drilling, monitoring and environmental services to build strong cross-functional relationships and support financial ojectives.

Qualifications & Experience



A motivated and hardworking individual with a "get stuck in" attitude is essential for this position. A demonstrable and proven track record working for a main or sub- contractor in the construction industry and has sufficient skills, training and knowledge such as:

Have a mature attitude. This is essential when working with heavy duty construction plant and potentially dangerous equipment. At all times comply with stringent health and safety procedures

The position requires the candidate to hold a full valid UK driving license and confirmation of right to work in the EU.

Both counterbalance forklift experience and CSCS basic site operative competency card are desirable but not essential.

Working Conditions



Working with WJ colleagues the cleaning and distribution and maintenance in both outdoor & indoor environments in and around plant and machinery. You will be lifting heavy objects on a regular basis and quite often do repetitive tasks.

The role is yard based at WJ Bilsthorpe Yard, Brailwood Road, Bilsthorpe, Nottinghamshire NG22 8UA,

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: Up to 16.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
