Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Yard Foreman to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and experience in warehouse operations. This role involves various tasks related to materials handling, including picking, packing, loading and unloading, as well as maintaining and organising the yard environment. The Yard Foreman will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our shipping and receiving processes.

Responsibilities

Ensure orders are correctly picked and made ready for dispatch on time. Load and unload materials from vans and lorries efficiently and safely. Operate forklifts and other machinery as required for moving heavy items. Maintain an organised yard by ensuring that all materials are stored properly. Assist in shipping ensuring accurate documentation of all incoming and outgoing goods. Perform regular inspections of equipment to ensure proper functioning and safety compliance. Collaborate with team members to optimise warehouse management systems for effective inventory control. Build pallets or other structures as needed for efficient storage or transport of materials. Assist in the manufacturing department as required.

Qualifications

Proven knowledge of lifting functions, with experience in warehouse operations preferred. Familiarity with loading and unloading procedures, including the use of forklifts. Experience in shipping and receiving processes is advantageous. Strong skills in materials handling with the ability to perform heavy lifting consistently. Knowledge of warehousing systems is a plus. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Experience of managing a small team. Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in all tasks performed. Knowledge or experience of marquees a plus but not essential.
