We are on the lookout for a talented yard operative with class 1 driving experience to join our growing organisation on a full-time basis. You'll deliver full pallets of paving and other garden-improvement products to customers across mainland UK, operating HIAB-equipped vehicles and ensuring safe, on-time drop-offs. When not on the road you'll help run a clean, efficient yard--picking orders, maintaining stock, and supporting customers and colleagues.

Duties

Product Delivery: Safely transport and deliver garden-improvement products nationwide, ensuring goods arrive undamaged. Vehicle & Equipment Operation: Drive Class 1 HGVs and use lorry-mounted HIAB cranes or forklifts for loading/unloading. Route Planning: Plan and optimise daily routes, adjusting for traffic, weather or customer time windows. Loading and Unloading: Efficiently load and unload vehicles, ensuring goods are handled safely and correctly. Order Picking & Checking: Accurately pick and check customer and courier orders, ensuring correctness before dispatch. (Heavy lifting required.) Stock Management: Store stock securely and safely, following company guidelines. Yard Maintenance: Maintain a clean, safe, and organised yard environment by removing hazards and debris. Customer Assistance: Provide excellent service by assisting customers in the yard with queries and order collections. Pallet & Stock Management: Repair broken pallets and re-stack stock safely and securely. Equipment Checks: Perform routine checks on yard equipment and report any maintenance requirements. Record Keeping: Maintain delivery notes, vehicle inspection reports, digital tachograph data and other required paperwork. Health & Safety Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety regulations, ensuring compliance with company policies.

Other Duties:

Assist with stock audits and inventory management. Support warehouse logistics and coordination as needed. Engage in cross-training for additional responsibilities when required. Undertake additional tasks as required to support the smooth operation of the yard. Any other relevant duties as seen fit by the company.

Experience

Valid Class 1 (C+E) driving licence with no more than 3 points on your licence Current Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph card; HIAB or Forklift license a plus (training available). Previous experience with driving a class 1 and working within a yard/warehouse environment. Sound knowledge of UK road regs, good GPS/map-reading ability and strong customer-service mindset. Highly motivated and the ability to work under tight deadlines Previous experience in a warehouse or yard environment is preferred but not essential. Happy to work outdoors in all weathers. Physically able to labor intensive roles. Good timekeeping and attitude towards work Mechanical knowledge is advantageous for troubleshooting equipment issues. Ability to work well in a team setting and communicate clearly with colleagues.

Typical Hours: Monday to Friday: 07:00 to 17:00

Typical Hours: Monday to Saturday: 07:00 to 17:00, Saturday: 08:00 to 14:00

Additional hours may be needed outside typical which will be discussed.

Applicant expected to work Saturdays on a rotating shift.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From 13.50 per hour

Expected hours: 45 - 55 per week
