Role Description

The Yard Operative will be responsible for tasks related to maintaining the yard, organising inventory, loading and unloading materials, and assisting with general warehouse duties. The applicant must also hold a full UK driving license to assist with daily deliveries to our clients across the South West. The role will primarily be based outdoors, and you will report to our Yard Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with the day to day running of the yard, maintaining a clean, organised, and safe working environment, whilst always adhering to health and safety guidelines and company policies. Receive incoming deliveries of materials, inspect them for accuracy and quality, and ensure proper storage and organisation. Communicate and maintain a good relationship with the sales team for effective management of material movements. Prepare outgoing deliveries and load materials onto vehicles. Completion of the necessary record keeping for both stock management and health and safety purposes. Operate forklifts and carry out safe manual handling of materials. Regular stock taking to maintain an accurate inventory. Greet and assist clients with picking products. Deliver directly to clients in our company vehicles.

Key Requirements

The ideal candidate will need to be self-motivated with a willingness to work alone, but equally must be a team player with effective communication and interpersonal skills. Due to the nature of the role, effective organisation and time management is a must. We are seeking someone who is hardworking, with an eye for detail and a positive can-do attitude. Must be able to deliver a high level of customer service.

Scaffolding knowledge and experience in a yard or warehouse environment preferred, but not essential.

The candidate will also be required to obtain a forklift license and abrasive saw certificate; this will be subsidised by the company.

The candidate must be able to reliably commute to our base in Topsham, and a full UK Driving license is required.
