Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Yard person to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our yard and warehouse activities. This position requires someone with a strong sense of responsibility, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The Yardman will be responsible for driving various vehicles, including flatbeds and vans, while also assisting with general yard maintenance and logistics.

Responsibilities

Operate flatbed vehicles and vans for deliveries and pickups as required. Assist in loading and unloading goods from vehicles, ensuring safe handling practices. Maintain an organised yard by keeping areas clear of debris and hazards. Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate deliveries and manage inventory. Perform routine maintenance checks on vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition. Support warehouse operations by assisting with stock management and inventory control. Follow all safety protocols and guidelines while operating machinery or vehicles.

Requirements

Valid driving licence with experience in commercial driving preferred. Experience operating flatbed lorries or vans is advantageous. Mechanical knowledge to perform basic maintenance on vehicles is desirable. Previous experience in a warehouse or logistics environment is beneficial. Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with team members and management. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. A proactive approach to problem-solving and attention to detail.
