Year 1 Teacher (Maternity Cover)
Are you an enthusiastic and dedicated primary teacher looking for an exciting opportunity to inspire and support young learners? Academics Bristol is seeking a talented and motivated Year 1 Teacher for a maternity cover in an East Bristol mainstream primary school.
Contract type: Fixed-term maternity cover
Location: Bristol (BS5)
Start date: September 2025
Salary: Paid to scale
About the role

Providing high-quality teaching and learning for Year 1 pupils, ensuring they are supported, challenged, and inspired to achieve their best.

Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons in line with the school's curriculum and schemes of work.
Assess, monitor, and report on pupil progress, using assessment to inform teaching.
Adapt teaching to respond to individual strengths and needs.

Take an active role in the wider life and ethos of the school.

Manage behaviour effectively, ensuring a safe and positive learning environment.

Communicate effectively with pupils, parents, carers, and colleagues.

What we're looking for from you

A teacher who holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Strong knowledge of the primary curriculum, particularly EYFS or KS1
Skilled at planning and differentiating to meet diverse learning needs.
An excellent communicator and team player.
Uses ICT effectively in teaching and administration.
A passion for continuous improvement - for themselves and their pupils.
