At Labman, you'll work alongside experienced engineers to help design and build bespoke robotic and automation systems used by clients around the world. This placement is hands-on, exciting, and ideal for students who want to put their engineering knowledge into real-world practice.

What You'll Do

During your placement, you will have the opportunity to:


Support the design and development of electro-mechanical automation systems (mechanics, electronics, optics, pneumatics, and software). Help create and update CAD models, schematics, and technical documentation. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to overcome engineering and integration challenges. Contribute to client-focused projects, helping shape ideas and propose improvements. Assist technicians and engineers in building, assembling, and testing robotic systems. Get hands-on experience across the full project lifecycle--from concept to prototype to finished system.

What You Will Bring

We are looking for a motivated placement student who has:


Currently studying a degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, or a related Engineering discipline. A strong interest in robotics, automation, and problem-solving. Basic experience with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks) or programming/controls--training provided. A proactive, curious mindset with a willingness to learn and get involved. Good communication and teamwork skills, with confidence to ask questions and share ideas.
