About the role (External)
What will you do during the scheme?
You'll be spending just under a year immersed in our dynamic culture working on diverse projects whilst gaining hands on experience in our health, safety and wellbeing teams who cover some of the following areas:
Level Crossing Safety team - who oversee the risk management of level crossings
Public Safety team - who lead on suicide and trespass prevention for the railway
Workforce safety team - who look after the safety of our track workers.
Standards and Controls team - who manage and support the publication of our company standards.
Reporting and assurance team - who collect, analyse and give insight on our health and safety data.
Safety culture and leadership team - who work across NR to improve engagement and performance.
Occupational health team - who monitor and ensure the health and wellbeing of our workforce.
What are the entry requirements?
To join the scheme, you will need to be in your penultimate year at University and looking for a Year in Industry placement, and on track to achieve at least a 2:2 in a degree which includes ideally at least one of the following areas:
Risk management
Human factors engineering
Statistics and/or Data science
Occupational Health and Safety
Electro-mechanical engineering
Technical writing
Join us if:
You are a proactive self-starter who can quickly pick up new skills.
Have great communication skills, building relationships with colleagues.
Work well in a team but can also progress projects under your own initiative.
Are tenacious, can solve problems and drive solutions to conclusion.
Have a good grounding in MS applications and solid I.T skills.
Can organise activities for yourself and others to ensure projects progress as planned.
