Yorkshire & Humber Sector Led Improvement (SLI) Programme

Yorkshire and Humber SLI Programme Policy Officer

Full time, two-year fixed term secondment.

Salary: 34,000

This is an exciting development opportunity for a pro-active, ambitious candidate to work within a supportive regional programme team at a time of significant national reform across children's services. It provides an ideal opportunity for candidates who would like to develop a range of skills including strategic project management and effective stakeholder engagement as well as an understanding of national legislation and reform.

The successful candidate will deliver priorities and be accountable for specific workstreams within Yorkshire & Humber SLI Programme. This programme is owned by the 16 Directors of Children's Services within the Local Authorities and Trust regionally and is designed to promote innovative practice, champion peer-led support and continuously improve outcomes for children across the region.

The successful candidate will work within the SLI Programme team to develop a regional workforce strategy for the children's services workforce, focusing on training and support offers, leadership development programmes, recruitment and retention strategies and harnessing efficiencies in Artificial Intelligence.

Over time and with support from the team, the role's initial focus on workforce may broaden to include specific pieces of work within the programme ranging from children's social care, education, early help and SEND. This would be dependent on emerging issues and priorities within the programme across the two-year period which the fixed term covers.

The role will sit within Children's Services in City of York Council but will involve working flexibly across the region. The successful candidate will work closely with and report to the Regional Programme Manager who is also based in City of York Council. Although many aspects of the role will be performed independently, from a single office base and home, it will involve attending meetings and activities in all parts of the region.

This is a great time to work in a strong region that has collaboration at its heart, and in a role that will allow for personal and professional growth. The diverse range of projects and activities means that your experience and knowledge will not only be well utilised but also strategically developed across a range of authorities and with a variety of stakeholders.

Please see accompanying job description for more information about this role.
