Background:

TTVS is the Council for Voluntary Service (CVS) for Torridge District, incorporating a Volunteer Centre (VC), and has been representing and supporting the voluntary and community sector in Torridge since 1988. TTVS also delivers a number of health and social care projects across Northern Devon and is seeking to grow this capacity.

Role:

To identify young carers aged 8-18 years and those young carers who are experiencing hardship when a family member is chronically or terminally ill. Young carers identified would be living in isolated communities within Torridge and Mid Devon. The role is to provide one-to-one and group support activities to help them feel more empowered, have increased positive relationships and increased aspirations.

Responsibility

To assist with producing Young Carer project marketing material. Map local provision and create links with existing services for Young Carers to ensure effective transition planning. To identify Young Carers through needs-based assessment and review on a regular basis. Engage with Young Carers in individual one-to-one support plans to help them access services they need and/or cope with issues, barriers and problems. To advocate a Young Carers needs to the family and school Support YC's to engage in training and skills development activities, such as training in 'life skills' - self care, money management, preparing CV's or applying for jobs - or through opportunities such as taster sessions in University/Colleges of FE; volunteering; work experience. To organise group activities for Young Carers to have a safe space with peers to encourage them to focus on their own goals outside of their caring responsibilities. To complete risk assessments for group activities. Complete accurate case notes on CRM system. Ensure all safeguarding protocols are in place. To empower Young Carers to use their own experience to shape future services for others to create change for other young people.
This candidate must hold a Full Driving Licence and have access to a car
