Our mission with this role is to help young people reach their full potential by supporting them into work, training and education. We work closely with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and local Work Coaches to open up opportunities and inspire confidence in the young people we work with.

The successful applicant will be required to support a caseload of young people aged 17 to 25 who are not in education, employment or training and in receipt of Universal Credit. This involves offering 1:1 support, facilitating group work and outreach support. You will be expected to work alongside the Young People and DWP work coaches to create personalised plans that are differentiated to meet the individuals need and provide coaching to move the young person closer to a positive outcome. Your approach will need to motivate the young people, build their confidence and help them overcome barriers that are preventing them from reaching their personal potential. This involves liaising with a range of services including Health Services, Housing services, local companies and employment agencies.

We aim to deliver events by partnering with outside organisations, that are tailored to the needs of the young people, these could include Job Fairs, Confidence Building courses, Money Management programmes and more. The successful applicant will work in conjunction with the DWP and Admin to coordinate and deliver these.

Essential Job Duties:



Ability to build and maintain relationships with Young People, key stakeholders and local services to create collaborative working partnerships. Engage and develop strong relationships with organisations that can support young people to develop their skills, for example training providers, National Citizen Service (NCS) and Volunteering opportunities. Liaise closely with the DWP Work Coaches in regards to targets and progress made towards meeting the agreed personal goals. Effectively plan and deliver group development sessions that are targeted towards the needs of differentiated young people. Train, assess, motivate, coach and support young people, assisting them to develop personal, social and employability skills including job-search skills, interview skills, CV writing and Cover letters to better prepare them for further education, work and training. Actively engaging with training providers, local employers, employer networks to capture vacancies, work trials and work experience opportunities for customers. Understanding the skills, interests and experience of participants and proactively matching them to opportunities that will help them reach their aspirations. Ability to use computer systems and record accurate information relating to the interventions with young people. Maintain professional relationships with programme participants and with other staff, with particular attention to safeguarding, confidentiality and maintenance of professional boundaries. To attend any identified Training and Development opportunities. To undertake mandatory training as required to support delivery of the programme. To work with The Sid Youth Manager, line manager and DWP Manager to ensure that the programme continues to develop effectively. Ensure that effective monitoring and evaluation systems are adhered to, in relation to the programme.

Education, Skills and Experience Requirements:



Essential



Recent experience of working with young people in group and/or individual settings to promote achievement Experience in employability skills-CV writing/interview advice/confidence building. Excellent verbal, written and communication skills with ability to engage with a wide range of people from a wide range of backgrounds Customer focused with a strong commitment to customer care Disability Capability with demonstrable experience of supporting individuals with mental ill health and other health conditions and disabilities Creative problem solving skills and a positive approach to challenging and overcoming limiting beliefs Knowledge of safeguarding, equal opportunities, health and safety Ability to plan and organise workload to meet required targets and deadlines Experience of meeting and exceeding on programme outcomes and targets Able to work flexible hours and travel through prior arrangement as the needs of the job dictate Full driving license and use of a vehicle

Desirable



Experience of mentoring or advocacy Holds Mental Health First Aid Qualification Experience of working with NEET/and/or disengaged young people Strong team player with a positive and flexible approach to both work and colleagues Experience of working with employers to develop job opportunities for participants and developing networks and partnerships with other organisations Experience using social media platforms to promote the service offered Aware of the principles of data protection legislation and partnership codes of practice covering the recording and sharing of information about our participants

There will be opportunities to be involved in other areas of the Sid Youth's work through out the contract.



Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: 25,000.00-27,000.00 per year
