Purpose of the Role:
To support the young residents of Elmbridge & Runnymede (18-24) who are unemployed or facing redundancy.
To provide high quality, strategic careers guidance, access to employment support and skills training for young people.
To coordinate with the Councils Economic Development Officer, businesses, partners and lead on the delivery of Youth Hub services to circa 150 young people over 12 months (75 from Runnymede and 75 from Elmbridge).
Context
The Youth Hub aims to deliver bespoke support for 18-24 years in the two boroughs and provide value-added advice, training and coaching/mentoring. In addition, young people will have access to a personalised customer action plan that will help them move into training and/ or employment, improve their prospects, and as an outcome, become active contributors to the borough's local economy.
The Youth Hub Coordinator will support the young residents in the boroughs of Elmbridge & Runnymede (18-24) who are unemployed or facing redundancy, by providing high quality, strategic careers guidance and access to employment support and skills training.
The role will require a range of skills to include the ability to engage and work with young people, providing careers guidance on a wide range of career pathways and bringing young people face to face with employers. The Youth Hub Coordinator should have the ability to understand the various opportunities available within a broad range of business sectors and the ability to work with young people to motivate and raise their aspirations.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Communicate daily with the Youth Hub Project Worker, Jobcentre plus work coaches, customers and colleagues in Brooklands College and the councils to ensure processes and the project are running smoothly.
Proactively develop an in-depth knowledge of the local labour market, service provision, and keep up to date with legislative changes and new initiatives.
Work in partnership with local providers in order to develop strong referral pathways onto the Youth Hub services and strong progression routes for beneficiaries onto further education, employment and training.
Develop and maintain excellent partnership relations with a wide range of services that support young people.
Feedback where necessary to the Economic Development Officer and DWP Partnerships Manager, particularly around key themes and noticeable provision gaps.
