Starting at 28,000 per annum (with Possible yearly increases based on performance and cost of living)

Hours:

Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

About The Role



The Base is seeking an experienced, motivated, and empathetic Community Link Mentor to provide 1:1 mentoring and coaching to young people aged 10-21 across Essex. This role supports young people who are at risk of:

Crime, violence, grooming and exploitation School exclusion Barriers to training, education and employment
In addition to offering direct 1:1 support, the Community Link Mentor will play a vital role in planning, coordinating, and linking young people to the right activities, experiences, training opportunities, and essential services--both at The Base and through external providers.

Key Purpose / Expected Outcomes



The Community Link Mentor will deliver personalised, high-impact support that reduces offending, builds resilience, and empowers young people to overcome vulnerabilities. Through mentoring, positive activities, and close partnership work with agencies, the role will help young people build confidence, develop essential life skills, and create sustainable, positive futures.

Key Responsibilities:



Deliver tailored 1:1 mentoring sessions focused on personal development, confidence building, and wellbeing. Develop and maintain personalised, young person-led development plans based on individual needs and aspirations. Regularly review and monitor progress, adapting support as required to achieve positive outcomes. Connect young people with appropriate opportunities, training, employment pathways, and specialist support services. Work closely with The Base team and external agencies to coordinate a holistic package of support. Attend multi-agency meetings and liaise with schools, referrers, and community stakeholders. Identify and link young people with trusted adults, safe spaces, and positive relationships within their community. Support young people in developing key life skills and accessing vocational courses such as: Gym & fitness programmes Creative arts, design, and music production Building and construction skills Business, entrepreneurship & employability workshops Life skills (practical, interpersonal, and intrapersonal) CV writing, job applications, and interview preparation

Essential Requirements:



Proven experience working directly with young people facing vulnerabilities or complex challenges. Experience in mentoring, coaching, or youth work. Knowledge of multi-agency working and the ability to build positive relationships with partners. Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently, manage a caseload, and respond flexibly to the needs of young people. Full Uk driving licence and access to car.
