Salary: 13.48 per hour - 21 Hours Per Week
Reports to: Young Carers Development Manager

Term Time

- Tuesdays 9-6, Wednesdays 10-6, Thursdays 10-5

School holidays

- dependant on planned respite, days out and residential breaks for young carers

Post holder may be required to work later in the evenings on some occasions

Post holder will be required to join PVG scheme for working with children

Car driver essential and must have own use of car as will need to undertake home visits, school presentations and transport young carers on occasions

Overall Objectives



The Youth & School Liaison Worker is responsible for the identification and registration of young carers and the completion of Young Carers Statements & reviews to identify the unmet needs of carers within the Dalmellington area of East Ayrshire. The post holder will deliver information, advice and support in relation to carers rights in line with the Carers (Scotland) Act 2016.

Major Functions/Accountabilities:



To identify and support young carers aged from 5 to 25 years old To carry out an initial assessment of the needs of the young carers via a Young Carers Statement to determine outcomes as per the carers (Scotland) Act 2016 To develop strong social media presence to promote and market this project and activities to ensure this service has a high public profile To communicate this project through networking meetings and marketing events To liaise with primary and secondary schools and deliver presentations to support and identify hidden young carers. To find hard to reach young carers who are socially and/or financially excluded To provide training, social and leisure activities and respite breaks to young carers To support young carers transitioning from primary to secondary school To work with the Next Steps employability team to support young carers aged 14 to 19, during their transition periods from secondary school to further education, training or employment To organise group and 1:1 sessions for young carers To ensure project targets and outcomes are met To be available to support young carers on respite breaks out with East Ayrshire and including overnight stays Any other tasks or duties as reasonably requested
