2. The Role
We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a full-time Youth Sport Coordinator within Young Tower Hamlets (YTH). The role will help ensure more young people than ever before in Tower Hamlets experience the transformative power of sport.
The key focus for this role will be managing a team of coaches who will be working with a diverse range of young people throughout the borough via community sports clubs, schools, leisure centres and youth centres. The role will ensure there is a high-quality sports coaching offer to young people with varying abilities, skills and needs and will also focus on developing and delivering an engaging sport-based school based and youth work curriculum to ensure that more young people realise the benefits of taking part in sport and physical activity.
In this dynamic role the Youth Sport Coordinator will:
Manage and lead a team of up to eight Youth Sport Coaches focusing on the delivery and development of hockey, basketball, girls football, badminton, athletics and cricket.
Work closely with Young Tower Hamlets to create an engaging sports-based youth work curriculum to ensure that more young people realise the benefits of taking part in sports and physical activity.
Support young people to participate in further competitions and opportunities, such as School Games, District Sport and London Youth Games, providing further pathways for young people to participate in sports.
To support the council with the development and implementation of increased sport and physical activity to young people.
Assist the Group Manager and Adventure Sport Coordinator in the management of the Team's works programme and ensure appropriate and safe standards of work and activity delivery are maintained.
Complete appropriate planning, monitoring, risk management and evaluation of sessions, off-site visits and expeditions.

National Governing Body qualified, in one or more sports
Experience of working with young people in an inner-city environment.
Experience of management
Experience of programme development and delivery
