Job Description


Job IntroductionThe Youth Service delivers approximately 90 sessions of youth work each week across all 30 Wards within the Bradford District. We are looking to recruit new Youth Support Workers vacancies to support the delivery of youth work sessions. Post holders will engage positively with young people and deliver quality youth work. We can offer further training to suitable applicants.You will be responsible for:

  • Developing relationships with 11-19 year olds and up to 25 year olds for young people with disabilities.
  • Working directly with young people to enable them to broaden their horizons and engage in positive activities
  • Helping to design and develop youth work responses underpinned by the Youth Service cornerstones of Equality, Participation, Education and Empowerment.
Required Experience
  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Youth work or experience of working with young people, aged 11-19 and up to 25 (for young people with disabilities) in a paid or voluntary capacity.
  • Uses and has applied knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures and regulations including risks in Youth Work
  • Uses a range of basic IT packages
  • Ability to adopt a process of continual improvement and suggest ways of working more efficiently and effectively to improve service delivery.
  • Knows and understands how to use, interpret, handle and communicate information
  • Demonstrate knowledge of issues, which are important and impact on the lives of young people.
  • Identify what are the most important skills when building relationships with young people and give an example of a situation when you have used them effectively.
  • Demonstrate the ability to apply an understanding of equality of opportunity and voluntary participation in a youth work situation.
  • To deliver the skills to enable young people to work effectively in groups
  • To work as part of a team to deliver youth work.
