We are looking for a compassionate and motivated Youth Support Worker to join our team, delivering high-quality support, interventions, and activities to children and young people. You will work across community and outreach settings, offering one-to-one support and group-based work that promotes emotional wellbeing, resilience, and personal development.
You will play a vital role in enabling our clients to overcome challenges, build confidence, and access the services they need, with a strong focus on early intervention and preventative support.
Main Responsibilities
Provide support, advocacy, and interventions for children and young people through one-to-one sessions and group work.
Deliver brief, solution-focused interventions, tailored to each individual's needs, typically lasting 30-50 minutes.
Undertake detached, outreach, and centre-based work across schools, communities, and homes.
Facilitate educational, social, and wellbeing-focused activities that promote personal growth and resilience.
Advocate on behalf of clients with agencies and professionals to support access to services and positive outcomes.
Contribute to the planning and delivery of specific projects aligned with organisational priorities.
Maintain accurate and confidential records using the organisation's systems, including statistical data and case notes.
Produce written reports, case studies, and feedback summaries to support internal and external reporting.
Ensure the voice of children and young people is heard, acted upon, and embedded in service design through co-production.
Contribute to evaluation, monitoring, and service development activities.
Build and maintain effective partnerships with local agencies, professionals, and community groups.
Attend relevant meetings, training, and supervision sessions.
Adhere to all safeguarding procedures and report concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Lead promptly.
Comply with all organisational policies and carry out duties as reasonably directed within the scope of the role.
Essential Criteria
Experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable adults
Ability to deliver one-to-one support and group sessions
Knowledge of safeguarding procedures
Experience in outreach/detached youth work or community engagement
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Good organisational and record-keeping skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
IT literate and able to use databases or reporting tools
Driving licence and access to a vehicle
Desirable Criteria
Level 3 qualification in Youth Work, Health & Social Care, or related field
Trauma-informed practice or mental health experience
Hours and Location
This role requires flexibility, including some evening and occasional weekend work.
You will be based at our Milton Keynes Office with travel across local schools and community settings in Milton Keynes.
