Newport Youth and Play Service offers a range of provisions for children and young people aged 5-25 and consists of a talented and enthusiastic team of professional youth and play workers who operate across the city. This set up consists of play and youth clubs, one to one and project work that all provide a wide variety of creative opportunities and experiences that encourage the participation and development of children and young people in communities.
The Youth and Play Service promotes a strong connection between targeted and universal work that ensures there is a consistent offer of support to children and young people when they need it.
An exciting opportunity has become available within the Youth and Play Service for 2 x Part time Youth Support Workers posts to support with the delivery of evening community youth clubs across the city. The posts are 4 Hour per week and term time contacts. The posts are fixed term until 31st March 2026 with possible extension pending funding.
You will be part of a dynamic and enthusiastic team who work with young people aged 10 - 25 with a range of needs within the locality. The aim of your role will involve ensuring that the Youth Service fulfils its commitment towards providing Youth Work activities within a variety of settings, that are relevant to the needs and desires of young people. You will also contribute to the planning, evaluation, and consultation phases of Youth Work facilitation.
You will have experience of delivering innovative, up to date and current Youth Work activities and programmes design for young people aged 10-25, with the addition to building positive and meaningful relationships with young people, in order to offer suitable support, using Youth Work methods.
