The Sessional Youth Worker supports the delivery of a range of activities to young people in a youth club setting, referred to at CCYP as 'Drop-in sessions'. The successful candidate will be required to work four evenings a week as a member of the Centre's Drop-in team which operates from 4:30pm - 8 pm. Young people who attend these sessions are aged 13 - 25 Seniors and 7-12 Juniors. The candidate needs to display the ability to build relationships with young people and deliver a range of activities and opportunities. Although formal qualifications welcome, none are required as there will be an expectation that successful candidate undertakes youth work training, however, experience working with ages 13+ in some capacity is a necessity.
The post is part time, 16 hours, Fixed Term for one year from commencement date with a view to extend should additional funding be secured.
The salary is based on an hourly rate of NMW per hour and holidays are based on a percentage of 5.6 weeks + Bank Holidays per year
The post is managed by the Youth Work Manager.
Key Tasks
1. Under the supervision and guidance of the Youth Work Manager, prepare and deliver activities and other work with young people in a youth club setting.
2. Undertake training, where necessary, on Youth Work skills and other as required to undertake the work e.g Safeguarding, Equality and Health and Safety
3. Ensure young people are fully involved in deciding on and organising the activities they want to take part in.
4. Ensure that young people can learn about the world around them and play an active role in it.
5. To attend and contribute to team meetings.
6. To ensure that equality of opportunity is upheld in all aspects of the work.
7. To be aware of the safeguarding needs of young people.
8. To take responsibility for both personal Health and Safety and that of the young people.
9. To undertake any other work that is of benefit to the Centre and may be reasonably requested.
