Newport City Council is seeking to employ a full time Youth Training Tutor as part of the Newport Youth Academy Team.



The role of the Youth Training Tutor is to lead and develop learning activities for young people in an environment where they feel respected, safe and valued. Activities include opportunities for the young people to improve their confidence, personal and social skills and general wellbeing in order to improve their chances of entering further education, training or employment. The role will include leading on the planning, preparation, delivery and quality assurance of post$u16 education programmes for young people.



The successful candidate will establish contact with young people aged 16 $u 19 years old using a variety of methods to engage them in youth based education programmes, services and activities.



You will be part of a team of tutors delivering on the Jobs Growth Wales+ Work Based Learning education programme in partnership with ACT and WG. This will involve the design, implementation and delivery of an education curriculum in line with programme specification.



As a Tutor, you will deliver exciting and innovative sessions and develop effective communication with young people, team members and partners. You will be expected to plan, monitor and evaluate education programmes with staff and young people.



Essential skills include being approachable, adaptable, proactive, a good level of literacy and numeracy and being able to use your own initiative. You will have a good level of literacy and numeracy to support in the curriculum delivery and be willing to learn and develop your knowledge in post 16 education.



This position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
