Purpose of the Role
Grow Your Potential is seeking an experienced and reliable
HAF Project Lead / Holiday Programme Manager
to plan, staff, deliver, and oversee a
4-day Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme
for up to
30 children and young people aged 7-16 years
.
This role carries
full responsibility
for programme quality, safeguarding, staffing (including volunteers), data capture, and compliance with
HAF funding conditions
. The programme is
strictly for children eligible for Free School Meals (FSM)
.
Key Responsibilities
1. Programme Planning & Delivery
Design and deliver a
structured, meaningful 4-day HAF programme
Ensure activities are:
Age-appropriate for children and young people aged 7-16
Engaging, inclusive, and purposeful
Aligned with HAF outcomes (physical activity, wellbeing, enrichment, social development)
Plan clear daily timetables, session plans, and activity outcomes
Integrate food provision appropriately within the programme
Lead delivery and ensure high standards of behaviour, engagement, and inclusion
2. Staffing & Volunteer Recruitment
Recruit, brief, and supervise
staff and volunteers
to support programme delivery
Ensure all staff and volunteers are:
Suitable to work with children
Recruited in line with
safer recruitment requirements
Collect and verify required documentation, including:
Identity checks
DBS status (or confirmation of checks in progress)
Role suitability information
Allocate clear roles and responsibilities
Maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios at all times
throughout the programme
Ensure all staff and volunteers understand and follow:
Grow Your Potential safeguarding policies
Child protection procedures
Act as the
first point of contact
for safeguarding concerns during delivery
Record and escalate concerns immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
Maintain professional boundaries and safe working practices at all times
Ensure health and safety standards are consistently upheld
4. Compliance, Data & Funding Accountability
Ensure
only children eligible for Free School Meals (FSM)
are recruited and attend
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including:
Daily attendance registers
Staff and volunteer details
FSM eligibility confirmation
Update the central database
accurately and promptly to support:
Funding allocation
Monitoring returns
Local authority reporting
Ensure all data requirements are met to allow
full HAF funding validation
5. Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting
Monitor attendance, engagement, and behaviour daily
Gather feedback from children, families, staff, and volunteers
Complete a short end-of-project evaluation
Provide evidence of outcomes, impact, and value for money in line with HAF expectations
Essential Criteria
Experience working with
children and young people aged 7-16
Experience planning and delivering
holiday programmes, youth work, or enrichment provision
Strong understanding of
safeguarding and safer recruitment
Experience supervising staff and/or volunteers
Ability to manage groups of up to
30 children
Confident in data recording and compliance requirements
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
Highly organised, reliable, and able to work independently
Must maintain communication with the director of the organisation regarding the HAF programme
Desirable Criteria
Previous experience delivering
HAF-funded programmes
Experience working with
FSM-eligible families
Youth work, education, playwork, or SEND experience
Familiarity with local authority monitoring and audit requirements
