About the Role



We are looking for an experienced YouTube Channel Manager & Editor to lead our YouTube content production and publishing operations

You will be instrumental in shaping our YouTube strategy, creating engaging video content and driving both channel growth and revenue through data-driven decisions

This role blends editorial instinct, video production skills, platform expertise and a strong understanding of digital news audiences.

Key Responsibilities



Content Strategy & Channel Management

Develop and execute a comprehensive YouTube content strategy aligned with editorial goals and audience interests

Identify trending news topics and high-impact visual stories suited to YouTube

Maintain a forward-looking publishing calendar for regular and timely uploads

Analyse competitors and internal content performance to inform editorial decisions

Collaborate with editorial and commercial teams to align content output with revenue goals

Suggest and develop original video ideas aligned with strong narrative hooks and shareability

Video Production & Editing

Lead end-to-end production of videos - from concept to publish-ready edits

Ensure all content is accurate, legally compliant, visually engaging, and YouTube-optimised (hooks, narratives, pacing)

Edit videos using Adobe Creative Suite and ensure they meet high editorial and production standards

Experiment with new formats (e.g., voiceover-led, talent-led, explainers)

Publishing & Optimisation

Upload and manage videos on YouTube following platform best practices

Create optimised titles, descriptions and tags to enhance SEO and discoverability

Design and test thumbnails to maximise CTR (Click-Through Rate)

Continuously improve the back catalogue through thumbnail, title, and metadata updates

Analytics & Performance Monitoring

Use YouTube Analytics and other tools to monitor performance and audience insights

Run A/B tests on thumbnails, headlines, upload timings and formats to improve watch time and retention

Provide regular reports on video performance, growth, and revenue

Use data to inform content formats, frequency and publishing strategy

Revenue Strategy & Growth

Lead efforts to grow revenue from YouTube by optimising content strategy for monetisation

Improve audience retention and watch time to increase monetizable views

Monitor CPM trends and platform monetisation performance to inform publishing tactics

Engagement

Actively moderate YouTube comments and engage with viewers to foster a healthy community

Enforce platform community guidelines and respond to feedback appropriately

Represent the brand when interacting with the audience via comments and DMs as needed.

Stay up to date with YouTube features, algorithm updates, content trends, and monetisation strategies

About You



Experience & Skills

Minimum 2 years managing a professional YouTube channel with proven growth results.

Strong video editing skills (Adobe Premiere Pro essential).

Deep understanding of YouTube SEO, analytics, and monetisation techniques

Experience with tools such as YouTube Studio, TubeBuddy or similar

Demonstrated success growing YouTube audiences through strategic content and optimisation.

Knowledge of copyright, media law, and responsible journalism practices

In-depth knowledge of YouTube's algorithm, SEO, and monetisation

Experience creating and testing thumbnails, titles, and metadata

Understanding of media law, copyright, and ethical publishing standards

Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
