Whilst our primary aim is to help our children negotiate life safely, it is so much more than that. It involves caring for our children as a good parent would. This includes the usual day to day activities of helping our children get up and go to school to having fun by the sea, going to the pictures, playing football, reading bedtime stories.......the role is diverse and rewarding for the right candidates.
Key Responsibilities:
Support and occasionally deputise for your manager
Lead shifts, ensuring staff understand how to work positively with our children, helping them develop, form relationships, feel loved and keep them safe
Support young people in a range of activities, including cooking, cleaning, outings, and taking part in games and appointments
Manage challenging behaviours effectively and professionally, with support from senior staff
Maintain clear, accurate records and help develop and implement plans

A great attitude

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with our children, their families and other professionals.
Ability to drive and possession of a valid driving licence-or a desire to learn.
The ability to work as part of a team, lead a team, follow instruction and challenge poor practice.

We are looking for people with at least 12 months care experience who is able to work shifts. Our shifts are generally 1 on followed by 2 off, including sleep-in shifts.
You will need to be able to engage with our children, helping them develop strong, secure relationships.
You will need to be able to lead by example, being an excellent role model for our staff and children.
You will need to be able to help our children manage their behaviours calmly and effectively.
Holding a L3 or above in residential childcare is advantageous but not a deal breaker. You will be required to complete appropriate training.

Training to be provided:
Over the course of 15 - 18 months (dependent upon the level of course an apprentice is being enrolled onto), you will study modules such as personal development in care settings, the responsibilities of a care worker, handling information in care settings, implementing person-centred care plans, safeguarding & protection in care settings, duty of care in care settings, communication in care settings, equality & inclusion in care settings and health & safety and wellbeing in care settings (these units may differ).
Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship programme, you will achieve a Level 3 qualification and a TQUK Diploma in Care.
