Job Summary


The Zero Emission Transformation Lead will be responsible for overseeing and enhancing all aspects of the transition to electric buses. This role requires strategic planning, technical expertise, and cross-functional working to ensure the successful operation of zero-emission bus services.


Data Analytics:




Extract and analyse data from the various EV telematics systems and recommend options to improve performance. Including Bus maintenance cycles. Electricity usage and pricing, to minimise overall costs.

Battery:




Work with Bus OEMs to set optimal battery charging SOP, and assess for continuous improvement. Using data collated, recommend optimal warranty terms, battery changing life cycles.

Charging Infrastructure:




Work with infrastructure providers and energy suppliers to ensure efficient and cost-effective charging solutions. Monitor efficiency of charging infrastructure to identify and mitigate waste. Monitor energy consumption and charging schedules to maximise vehicle availability. Reviewing Fire Safety protocols and brining best practices and minimising safety risks

Network Planning - Schedules:




Work closely with network planning and performance teams to adapt service patterns to the operational realities of electric buses, considering charging cycles and range limitations.

Depot Operations Planning, including Shunting:




Develop and implement depot operations strategies to accommodate electric bus charging and vehicle movements efficiently. Oversee shunting operations to ensure buses are positioned correctly for charging and deployment. Coordinate with maintenance teams to schedule vehicle servicing in alignment with operational needs.

Training:




Lead the development and delivery of tailored training programs for drivers on electric vehicle handling, range optimisation, and safety. Foster a culture of continuous learning and adaptation within the workforce as new technologies emerge.

Proven experience in fleet transformation, transport operations, or sustainability projects. Knowledge of energy management, including charging strategies and grid interactions. Excellent data analytics and use of data to drive continuous improvement. Commercially astute and financial literate. Strong stakeholder management, negotiation and communication abilities (both with internal and external parties).

Desirable Criteria:




Understanding of electric vehicle infrastructure, depot operations, and scheduling optimisation. Experience in training program development and implementation. Project management skills. Hours of Work


38 hours per week. Flexibility required for hours/days worked (including weekends) in line with operational requirements.
