Abbotsholme is a co-educational, boarding and day school for children aged 2 to 20 years old, set in a large, beautiful estate on the Staffordshire/Derbyshire border. Are you a compassionate and dedicated individual with experience supporting children with medical needs and special educational needs? We're looking for a 1:1 SEND Assistant to join our inclusive and nurturing school community.

We are looking for an empathetic individual who will specifically be working closely with a pupil who has complex medical needs and awaiting an assessment for an EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan), providing tailored support throughout the school day. This includes:.

Monitoring and responding to medical needs in collaboration with healthcare professionals Supporting learning activities and adapting materials to suit the pupil's needs Promoting independence, confidence, and emotional wellbeing Liaising with parents, teachers, and external agencies
Your primary responsibility will be to provide tailored assistance, ensuring the student's academic, social, and emotional needs are met within the classroom setting.

The ideal candidate will possess relevant qualifications and experience in supporting students with special educational needs. You should have a strong understanding of various learning strategies and be adept at implementing them to foster student success. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as you will collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment. This role would be perfect for a person with a "can do" attitude who is committed to developing individual strengths and encourage a love of learning in all our pupils.

The successful candidate will display the following qualities:

A calm, patient and empathetic approach Strong communication and teamwork skills Relevant qualifications : Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, First Aid. Manual Handling. Experience of epileptic episodes and advantage but full training will be provided.
The role is full time, working Monday to Friday, from 8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m., during term time only
