SEN Teaching Assistant

school provision for SEN children, based in
Leytonstone
. This is a
full time

long term

SEN Teaching Assistant
will be working closely with students with a range of additional needs, including
Autism
(non-verbal), ADHD, and various learning difficulties.
This
full time
role is term-time only (Monday to Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm), providing consistency and stability throughout the school year. The position offers leading training opportunities and ongoing professional development. Prior experience as a Teaching Assistant or personal experience supporting individuals with SEN is advantageous, but a strong passion for helping children achieve their potential is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with
Autism
, ADHD, and learning difficulties within a
mainstream primary
classroom setting.
Assist in the implementation and review of Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
Support the class teacher in adapting learning materials to meet the individual needs of SEN pupils.
Foster an inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued and supported.
Encourage the development of communication and social interaction skills, particularly with non-verbal
Autism
students.
Monitor progress and provide feedback to teachers and SENCOs on pupil development.
Promote independence, confidence, and positive behaviour through consistent encouragement and structure.
Contribute to maintaining a safe, stimulating, and nurturing classroom environment.
Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure cohesive and effective support.
