SEN Teaching Assistant - Full-Time or Supply Opportunities (Barnet)
Are you a compassionate, resilient and committed 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant looking for your next role? We are working with a number of different SEND Schools in Barnet, North London that are looking to recruit experienced 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistants for long-term roles and flexible day-to-day supply.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a specialist environment that supports pupils with a wide and complex range of needs and takes a therapeutic, holistic approach to education.
About the Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
Support pupils with a range of needs including Autism (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), PMLD, SEMH and communication needs
Work across EYFS-KS5, adapting to both 1:1 and small-group support
Help implement individual EHCP targets and personalised learning programmes
Use non-punitive, trauma-informed behaviour support strategies
Assist with communication tools such as PECS, visual timetables, sensory regulation and AAC (training can be provided)
Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, and behaviour support teams
Promote independence, confidence and engagement in learning
Support with personal care or mobility needs where required (training provided)
What We're Looking For
Experience supporting children or young people with SEN (school, care, residential or youth work backgrounds all welcome)
A calm, patient and adaptable approach
Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
An understanding of safeguarding and inclusive practice
A DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
