To work under the direction of the classroom teacher to assist in the teaching and assessment of individual or small groups of pupils. To support the management of pupil behaviour and ensure a safe learning environment.
Main Responsibilities
Teach and assess individual or small groups of pupils within the classroom as directed by the teacher.
Effectively manage pupil behaviour and any other immediate issues or emergencies that arise in accordance with school policy.
Support pupils to engage with the work provided, including providing assistance where necessary with literacy, numeracy, and organisational skills.
Provide feedback to the class teacher on pupil engagement in the set work and any other issues that may have arisen.
Help prepare, monitor, and maintain a safe and secure learning environment.
Promote positive behaviour among pupils.
Undertake administrative duties relevant to the role.
Work with the Exams Coordinator to ensure the orderly and efficient running of public examinations.
Act as an invigilator for both internal and external exams under formal conditions.
When not required to undertake responsibilities listed above, provide additional support within the school in duties of a different nature as directed.
Be aware of and support differentiation, ensuring that pupils have equal access to learning and development opportunities.
