Manpower Recruitment are looking for a Full Time, permanent 18th Edition Electrician.

This is a Full time role working majority Monday-Friday 8.00-5.30 but some flexibility for weekends on a rota basis.

The Salary is 29,762-37,386 depending on experience.

You must have a FULL CLEAN DRIVING LICENCE to apply.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing a comprehensive maintenance offering in electrical services, within one of the largest Colleges in the University of Oxford. They will be part of a collaborative team-based maintenance department actively participating in meeting the general maintenance needs of the College.

The post holder will act as a contact-point for the Maintenance Department in the short-term absence of the Maintenance Coordinator. This would include the daily updating of senior management on programmes of work and maintenance issues.

Duties

  • To carry out a comprehensive service offering in electrical maintenance across the College site including, but not limited to, the following:
  • To diagnose electrical faults on electrical systems and control circuits.
  • To repair and replace electrical circuits.
  • To install electrical equipment including light fittings, fans, actuators, etc.
  • To carry out minor repairs to electrical appliances and equipment.
  • To be responsible for the monitoring of stock levels in the electrical store.
  • To maintain a record of Portable Appliance Testing across the College sites, including in offices and for students.
  • To action any Fixed Wire remedial work required after completed testing.
  • To be responsible for Emergency Light testing and remedial works
  • To ensure appropriate assessment and maintenance of heating, air conditioning and air handling systems, including with appropriate testing equipment for diagnosing faults.
  • Ensure all work carried out is in accordance with the applicable IEE regulations, including that of contractors.
  • To liaise and work with contractors as necessary, including being able to interpret works specifications, technical drawings and blueprints
  • To carry out work in properties owned by the College within Oxford.
  • To participate in a weekend and closure call out scheme with other College staff.
  • Work in accordance with all health and safety legislation, College policies and guidelines for safe working practices.
  • Undertake all necessary training required of the position, including skills updating as new technologies become available, and health and safety training.
  • To have a \'can do\' attitude and taking ownership of tasks.
  • To bring to the attention of the Maintenance Coordinator all maintenance work, particularly electrical work, that requires college input or that cannot be completed within a week of the job being raised.
  • In the Maintenance Coordinator\'s absence liaise with the Home Bursar and other staff on all matters relating to the buildings and maintenance of college.
General Assistance
  • To assist colleagues in the maintenance department with general furniture moves, and other maintenance activities, in college, as and when required.
  • To undertake any other duties, consistent with the purpose of the post, as may from time to time be assigned by the Maintenance Coordinator or their representative.
Leave Entitlement:

This appointment carries with it a leave entitlement of 30 days, plus compensatory leave for working on Bank Holidays which fall within the full term of the University of Oxford. The College\'s maintenance programme requires that leave is not taken in the week of Easter closure and in the last two weeks of August.
