Savills Environment and Infrastructure is a department in the Planning Division that is focused on planning for major development projects, providing a range of specialist consultancy services. We have a strong focus on the UK's infrastructure - such as renewable energy and carbon capture projects to deliver net zero, among many others - but work on projects of all types and scales. Our goal is to shape projects, ensure environmental protection and betterment, and support our clients to get vital infrastructure approved and built. We do this through a high standard of environmental and social expertise, a thorough understanding of consents and regulation, and an appetite to rapidly understand the details of our clients' projects and businesses.

We work in the Planning Act 2008 regime as well as under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 (TCPA) and other legislation covering electricity, transport and other forms of infrastructure development. We work closely with Savills Earth, which brings together over 100 professionals from across our business and includes experts from Engineering & Design Consultancy, Property Management, Energy Consultancy, Energy Procurement, Environmental Economics and Research. We also work with land referencing and property acquisition specialists across Savills UK.

Our network of offices covers all regions of the UK, including rapid growth in Brighton and Bournemouth as well as our team's expanding presence in London, Leeds and Manchester. In all of our key regional offices, the Planning and Environmental teams operate alongside other property advisory services allowing cross-disciplinary work on a wide variety of projects. In Environment and Infrastructure we work very closely with regional planning teams across the UK and are seeking to expand our own team's planning capacity alongside the environmental consultancy we specialise in.

As a graduate within the Environment and Infrastructure team, you will gain experience across a wide variety of different types of project including the Planning Act 2008 (NSIP) regime as well as TCPA. Daily tasks for our graduates can vary from: researching and reporting on the planning context of sites; comparing alternative site or development options; preparing planning application documentation; liaising with local planning authorities, consultees, the Planning Inspectorate; assisting with planning appeals; assisting Examination of NSIP DCO applications; advising clients in virtual and face-to-face meetings; or preparing proposals and costing to bid on future work. The breadth of experience that Savills graduates obtain is second to none and the pathway will help to provide holistic knowledge across the Savills business whilst focusing on developing your skills in planning.
