Job description
Working within the Social Partnership, Employability and Fair Work Directorate, this post supports development and delivery of the strategic direction and implementation of Apprenticeship policy on behalf of the Welsh Government.
Successful candidates will be matched into one of these two Apprenticeship Manager posts for the duration of the secondment or loan.
Person specification
The post holder will lead and support work across a broad range of activity including policy development and implementation, liaison with external partners, secretariat responsibilities including Government Business.
Key responsibilities will include:
Managing and reporting on progress and implementation against the actions in the Apprenticeship Policy Statement.
Leading on monitoring and reporting on actions arising from Assembly Committee Report(s)
Working with colleagues, internal and external, to manage and mitigate risks and issues in delivering the Apprenticeship Policy Statement and Committee(s) report actions.
Evidencing achievement of actions and reporting to senior managers on progress (briefings, progress papers, impact papers).
Measuring the success of the Apprenticeship Policy Statement in terms of meeting Well-being of Future Generation goals.
Work with Senior Managers in scoping, drafting, finalising, monitoring and evaluating all Apprenticeship policy and legislation work
Maintain regular communication with key partners and internal colleagues on apprenticeship projects
Aid senior managers in the management of the Apprenticeship budget.
Preparing briefings for colleagues on apprenticeship related matters.
As required, represent the Welsh Government on the three-country Standards & framework Panel.
As directed by the senior managers provide input into the framework activities of the Regional Skills Partnerships and other employer groups.
Provide periodical evaluations of the effectiveness of Welsh Apprenticeships.
Maintain and develop good working relationships with key stakeholders and customers such as Medr, Qualifications Wales, the Devolved Administrations, Learning Providers, Sector Bodies and employers.
Distribute and disseminate information, as directed, on apprenticeship policy to key stakeholders across Wales.
Draft, check, finalise and respond to Government Business related to Apprenticeships
Undertake tasks as directed by the Senior Managers of the Apprenticeship Team
